Our First Vegetable Garden

Levi and I have a garden! This is huge because we have a *very* long history of not being able to keep things alive! We got these hand-me-down raised garden beds and my sister in law is a horticulturist so she helped us set it all up right!

We started late in the season so we didn't grow them from seeds. It's basically a trial run and we'll see how it goes! So far we've gotten bell peppers, jalapeños, cherry tomatoes, basil and one cucumber :) We've had our fair share of nitrogen deficiencies and striped cucumber bugs but mainly good results! Side note, if anyone has tips about getting rid of those bugs I'm all ears!

This fall we hope to grow things like potatoes, lettuce, carrots, brussels sprouts! I have been intimidated about gardening for years but now that I have done it there are so many cool benefits to it! For one, it's super fun to feel like YOU helped make something. It's also nice to not have to buy these things at the store, especially basil! Lastly, it has given us a guaranteed daily activity together that we do outside. We usually go out around 8pm to do the watering and it's so peaceful and nice out by then. It's important to me to have activities together during the week that aren't just watching our favorite shows!

Our cucumber plant has kind of taken over  😬

We also planted a packet of sunflower seeds and wildflower seeds! Only one flower took off  😂
but it's been going strong and we can't wait for it to bloom!!!
